At the Loerie is charming, full of character and dressed with a quirky sense of elegant style. Many of the original features of the house tell the story of the many lives this house has lived. It is a charming and characterful home, definitely quirky!

Each room is individual, and each bathroom configuration is unique. We offer a common lounge area with a TV. Our tea and coffee station is situated in this communal area where guests can help themselves to abundant tea and coffee. There is a shared kitchen where our guests can prepare a meal  - although, Knysna is on the “foodie map” and when eating out, you are spoilt for choice.

Knysna's history is in the wood industry and we share our yard with an emporium of second hand and restored furniture, it's a treasure trove on our doorstep.  This also adds a nice element of activity to the weekdays when the store is open.

Our Guests will have access to all areas of the house, our common areas are there to be enjoyed. Two large verandas offer extra seating and outdoor sofas. Should you decide to sit on the veranda and watch the daytime hum of a town going about its daily activities, you will find a comfortable space to do so.

Our cosy kitchen is available should you want to start your day around the house before heading out or if you like the idea of a quiet night in after your daytime adventures, you are welcome to prepare a meal at home.

At the Loerie has a small and friendly team, one of us will always be on hand should you need anything, it is our pleasure to see our guests enjoying our special town and the surrounding nature.

Our en-suite rooms have a shower, toilet and basin. We have two economy rooms which share a bathroom (shower and toilet are separate). Each room has a hairdryer and our en-suite rooms have a safe. Iron and ironing board are available on request. Free toiletries are provided, as well as bath towels.

We have the Woodmill Lane Shopping Centre (an old wood factory) close by, the Knysna Mall in the opposite direction, both have good supermarkets and some interesting shops. The African Market is on route to Woodmill Lane, it is a great place to pick up curios and handmade bits and bobs that make for great gifts.

The Knysna Waterfront is a 15 min daytime walk (that’s if you don't find something of interest on route) and Thesen Island, which I like to call "Foodie Island" (the restaurants and the views are equally as satisfying) is just beyond and over a bridge.

The natural world in and around Knysna is spectacular and the options of what to do are endless.
