On the Mpumalanga Highveld bordering Kwa-Zulu Natal, nestled between mountains and wetlands, lies Forellenhof Guest Farm.

Forellenhof is one of those unique accommodation establishments that have that farm feel, yet it brings out the beauty of the country and the splendour of its natural gifts. The ambience that has been created by the owners offers you rest and tranquillity in luxury romantic accommodation in one of our self-catering cottages.  You can choose between 3 fully equipped, luxury self-catering cottages, i.e. Freckled Frog which is a 3-bedroom cottage, Pretty Pig which is a 2-bedroom cottage, and Laughing Duck which is a 1-bedroom cottage. The other option is an en-suite room in The Old Farmhouse Guesthouse. 

Wakkerstroom has long been known globally as an Important Bird and Biodiversity Area.  It is a birding haven that marvels to entice both experienced and newcomers to this rewarding pastime.  The Wakkerstroom wetland is one of the largest reed marshes in South Africa and is registered as a South African Heritage Site.

As Wakkerstroom is ultimately a weekend destination, Swop & Stay bookings will be limited during weekends, especially long weekends.  However, feel free to contact us closer to the date of your stay, as we may be able to accommodate you in some instances.
