The Hluhluwe Country Cottages are located in the heart of the Elephant Coast region of KwaZulu-Natal, on a farm 1km outside of the well-known agricultural and tourism hub of Hluhluwe village. The cottages are situated on a game-fenced sanctuary bordered by the Ngweni River. Take a walk on the game farm where you can find some of the antelope species such as Common Reed Buck, Nyala, Impala and Red & Grey Duiker. A portion of the farm has been set aside for the cultivation of mangoes and also accommodates the world-renowned Ilala Basket Weavers, which includes a Zulu Artifacts Museum, Crafters Village Art Gallery and an A La Carte café.
Hluhluwe is situated between iSimangaliso Wetland Park and Hluhluwe-iMfolozi Park on the banks of the Hluhluwe River, an area known for its national parks, natural diversity and cultural heritage. The variety of habitats within the area is one of the reasons why it is one of the prime birding destinations in South Africa. Timber, sugar and pineapples are intensively grown in the area which produces over 90% of South Africa’s queen pineapples. A big area surrounding the Hluhluwe area is also made up of cattle farms and game farms.
Each bedroom offers en-suite bathrooms with either a shower or bath option and double or twin beds. The rooms are air-conditioned with tea/coffee-making facilities.
The self-catering option includes an open-plan lounge/dining/fully fitted kitchen. DSTV and braai facilities are available. We provide towels and all bedding and the rooms are serviced daily. There is ample secure parking on the premises.
