Stay in one of our family cottages on the Spekboom River in the Finsbury Valley, and build unforgettable memories while fly fishing for trout, going for nature walks and enjoying a game drive. Situated en route to the Kruger National Park and centrally located for day visits to great destinations such as Dullstroom, Bourke's Luck Potholes, Sudwala Caves and Pilgrim's Rest.
Hobbiton and Bag End cottages are both situated on the banks of the fast-flowing Spekboom River, which is regularly stocked with rainbow trout. Each cottage has 4 en suite bedrooms (two queen-sized beds and 4 single beds) as well as a large open-plan lounge/dining/kitchen area.
The lounge has a huge fireplace for winter evenings. Outside is a comfortable deck with both wood and gas braai (barbeque) area overlooking trout pools in the river.
Each cottage has a stretch of 1.5km of river exclusively for the use of the occupants. The river banks are groomed regularly to provide easy access for fishermen. Guests are welcome to walk at will along the river and the surrounding roads and trails. There is plenty of varied birdlife to interest keen birdwatchers.
